HI-LO® PLUS FASTENERS

HI-LO Plus® fasteners possesses alternating high tend low threads that enable them to engage in an effective manner with a vast array of low density materials. The versatility of these fasteners makes them ideal for use in die cast metals, hard or soft plastics, wood, and particle board.

By providing reliable fastening in such a wide range of materials, the Hi-Lo Plus fastener opens the door to new standardization opportunities. By specifying the proper hole size, the same type and size of screw can be used in a variety of materials and applications.

Hi-Lo Plus screws, when it comes to fastening effectiveness, surpass other thread forms used in similar applications. Other types of thread forming screws need holes of larger size to keep the possibility of splitting or cracking of the material into which they are driven to a minimum. Hi-Lo Plus thread forming screws displace less material, resulting in less thread engagement.

Due to the fact that the Hi-Lo screw and Hi-Lo Plus screw displaces a smaller amount of material when driven, they require less driving torque than other screws. With more material remaining between the threads, these screws take on more torque, but do not exhibit the problem of stripping. These screws are driven consistently without stripping and in a safe manner and they also do not need repeated fine tuning from power drivers as a result of the significant increase in the safe driving range (drive vs. strip torque).

Hi-Lo Plus fasteners, including Hi-Lo Plus screws for metals and Hi-Lo Plus screws for plastics having low and high sharper angle threads, possesses excellent ability to accept driving torques, and as a result the greatest safe driving range between strip and drive torques.

Thread Angle:

  • Both the high and low threads have a sharper (30°) angle than conventional threads and incorporate a 45° angle step on their trailing flank. These slim threads penetrate deeply without weakening the material through stress-caused fracturing.
